New US Customs Regulations: Imports of goods over $800 require strict inspection
The US Customs and Border Protection (CBP) announced that starting from January 11, 2025, for goods purchased by the same recipient through different channels and delivered to the United States or declared for import clearance on the same day, if the total value exceeds $800, they will face a stricter review procedure.
Update to the new US Customs Section 321 policy


The US Customs Section 321 allows the same recipient to enjoy duty-free treatment for goods with a total value of no more than $800 per day. However, CBP plans to officially implement the updated policy in January 2025, requiring sellers to ensure that the description of the goods is accurate and complete when declaring goods, including key details such as name, quantity, and value, to avoid unclear descriptions affecting the customs clearance efficiency of goods.


Announcement No. 167 of the General Administration of Customs in 2024: Promoting the development of cross-border e-commerce exports
The General Administration of Customs of China issued Announcement No. 167 of 2024 to further promote the development of cross-border e-commerce exports. The main measures include canceling the registration of overseas warehouse enterprises for cross-border e-commerce exports, simplifying the declaration procedures for export documents, expanding the pilot program of “inspection before shipment” for export LCL goods, and promoting the cross-border e-commerce retail export cross-customs return supervision model.


A number of new customs supervision policies and regulations will be implemented from June
From June 1, 2024, a number of new customs supervision policies and regulations will be officially implemented, involving import and export customs clearance, cross-border e-commerce, passenger entry and exit and other fields, aiming to improve the level of customs clearance facilitation and support foreign trade stability and quality improvement.


New US Customs Regulations: Air cargo cargo description requirements upgraded
The US Customs and Border Protection (CBP) will implement new regulations from October 7, 2024, requiring all inbound air cargo to provide more stringent cargo descriptions. Carriers must provide accurate cargo descriptions and avoid using general or vague terms to ensure smooth customs clearance of goods.
